Remembrance of Christian Heroes and Heroines of Faith….

It was time to celebrate late heroes and heroines of faith at the St Stephen’s Anglican Church, Oke Ola, Ipetumodu, Osun State, on Sunday the 2nd of July 2017. Preaching to a nearly full capacity church, the Vicar in charge, Venerable Reverend Ojo Borisade took his texts from Hebrews 11:1-6, Dan 3 and Dan 6, to support his message that faith in God was the secret of the Ipetumodu Christian heroes and heroines who founded St Stephen’s Anglican Church, Oke Ola, against all odds and oppositions from fellow Christians who believed that St Stephen’s should not have splitted.

According to the clergy; faith is the substance of hope, the evidence of the intangible. Heroes of faith served God at St Stephens Anglican church Oke Ola; many were famers leaving their farm work to serve God every time. The elders insisted that Christ Church Ipetumodu could expand to Oke Ola; they raised money by themselves and started the foundation; the Agunsoye family donated land.

Pa Odetoyinbo, Pa Julius Oladejo (first educated worker, 1962) and other elders all willingly supported the church. Pa Oyelowo (Olowojooro) provided a free apartment for the first Reverend that shepherded St Stephen’s Anglican Church.

Pa Akinwumi Salako, was always in church by 9:30am with the whole family, coming to render heartfelt worship and praise to God most high. This present generation must copy these good examples of these men of solid faith if they also desire to have the same good results with God.

Ritualism and occultism must give way to faith in Christ and Godliness with contentment. The 3 Hebrew boys–Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego– were delivered by their faith in Jehovah. Daniel was delivered from the lions by faith in God. Further more, these St Stephen’s men of faith had no scandals, no  taint, no blot on their escutcheons; no membership of Ogboni cult or other cults. This remembrance of saints serve to encourage Godliness in the present generation and to transmit Godly faith and virtue to future generation.
