There has been notable defections of powerful people from the ruling APC to PDP and other lesser parties in the last few days and weeks. A day ago, it was Saraki, the Senate president, cross-carpeting from APC to PDP. Today, it is Tambuwal, the Sokoto State governor and Bolaji Abdullai, a staunch supporter of Bukola Saraki; both formidable leaders leaving the APC on the same day.
There are pros and cons to all these cross-carpeting, but the germane question is; “can the APC survive these gales of defections and still win 2019 elections?” When religious leaders, former presidents and governors and leaders and shakers of society have come to believe that Buhari is the “President of Miyetti Allah”, the situation cannot be taken lightly. That is the nitty-gritty of the present political discuss. Tinubu and Buhari are trying to redress the bad situation, and Nigerians quietly wait and hope that the egalitarian society of their dreams can be actualized by the old APC order, or a new order of uncertain bedfellows.
